BISHOP MARTIN C. OF E. PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPIL PREMIUM POLICY 2015-16 OVERVIEW The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011, and paid by means of a specific grant based on 1 school census figures for pupils registered as eligible for FSM in reception to Year 11. For looked after children the Pupil Premium was calculated using the Children Looked After data returns (SSDA903). The CLA premium is managed by the designated virtual school head (VSH) and used for the benefit of the looked-after child’s educational needs as described in their personal education plan. The VSH ensures there are arrangements in place to discuss how the child will benefit from pupil premium funding with the designated teacher in the child’s education setting. A premium has also been introduced for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. This service premium is designed to address the emotional and social well-being of these pupils. The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and it will be used by this school to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most. The PPG per pupil for 2015 to 2016 is as follows: Disadvantaged pupils Pupils in year groups reception to year 6 recorded as Ever 6 FSM Looked-after children (LAC) defined in the Children Act 1989 as one who is in the care of, or provided with accommodation by, an English local authority Children who have ceased to be looked after by a local authority in England and Wales because of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order or a residence order Service children Pupils in year groups reception to year 11 recorded as Ever 5 Service Child or in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence

Pupil premium per pupil £1,320 £1,900 £1,900

The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) was implemented in April 2015. This is additional funding that the government is making available for early years settings to improve the education they provide for disadvantaged three and four year olds. The EYPP is an additional 53p per hour which equates to £302.10 per year if a child takes up their full 570 free early education entitlement. Three and four year old children will attract EYPP based on the following criteria:  Children from low income families (as defined by criteria for free school meals)  Looked after children and previously looked after children. Previously looked after children are those who were looked after, but ceased to be because they were adopted (or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order) OBJECTIVES 1. The Pupil Premium and EYPP will be used to provide additional educational support to improve the progress and to raise the standard of achievement for these pupils 2. The funding will be used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of these pupils and their peers 3. As far as its powers allow the school will use the additional funding to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible for Pupils Premium and others 4. We will ensure that the additional funding reaches the pupils who need it most and that it makes a significant impact on their education and lives.
