Presentation Guidelines/Policy 2015-2016 Mathematics

Aims:  

To establish high expectations and pride in everything that we do To create a clear and consistent set of guidelines for the presentation of children’s learning

Objectives:   

To motivate each individual to present their work in the best possible way and take care of their books To enable children to recognise that work is presented to a high standard To ensure that each child knows the standard of presentation that is expected of them

Expectations of staff: Staff are the most important role model for presentation and high expectations.         

All modelled writing which is on display for children (whiteboard, displays, books) should be cursive or precursive dependant on the age of the children, legible and neat. All children’s work must be marked before given back to the children using the school’s marking and feedback policy When sticking in work/ labels/ objectives, ensure that they are straight and cut to size. Wherever possible, worksheets should be trimmed and glued in portrait. Where this is not possible, the sheet should be folded in half once and glued in landscape If a child is absent, please record this in their book with the date and objective. Ensure children do not leave blank pages and that they rule off after the last piece of work. All marking should be in green pen. Post-it notes / photographs may be used to show observations / feedback from teaching assistants Ensure all books have the child’s full name and subject typed on a white label

Date and Title (Learning Outcome):      

In KS2 children should be reminded of DUM TUM (Date, Underline, Miss a Line, Title, Underline, Miss a Line) In KS1 teachers should model DUM TUM either through sticking the date and title in books or by hand writing in books Children in KS1 may move on to writing their own date and title if the class teachers thinks they are ready to The short date (DD.MM.YY) should be written on the left-hand side of the page and underlined in pencil with a single ruled line. The title (which is the learning outcome) should be written centrally on the page and underlined in pencil with a single ruled line. A line should be missed after the title before children begin their work.
