The children have now settled back after half-term and have begun their new history-based topics. We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our Parents’ Evenings on Monday and Tuesday next week. It is not too late to make an appointment – please send the reply slip back on Monday if you have not already done so, or alternatively ring the office.

Fire-Fighting in Year 2 From superheroes to fire fighters, Year 2 children are certainly having an exciting time at the moment! On

Wednesday they were visited by a fireman who talked to them about fire safety. The children then had a trip to the fire station in the afternoon to see how the fire services help people. This work links to their historybased topic work on ‘The Great Fire of London’.

Reception News Reception children are doing really well with their reading challenges and many children have now completed 25 reads at home and earned a special sticker from Mrs Viner and a treat from the treasure box. Reception homework will usually be issued on a Wednesday and will be due in the following Tuesday. We apologise that it wasn’t handed out until Thursday this week.

Reydon Primary will be holding a non-uniform day on Friday 13th November to raise money for Children in Need. The themes will be Superheroes and Spots.

(Although they do not necessarily need to be combined!) Your children do not need to dress up if they do not wish to. We are just asking for a minimum £1 donation to go towards this important charity.

On December 8 and 9th we have a company called Art Solutions coming into school to work with the children on an exciting art project. This will result in some amazing 3D displays in our reception area at the front of the school and in the hall. As part of this work we need to collect old newspapers, so if you could bring any into school we would be extremely grateful. We will also need some parent helpers. Please contact the office if you could volunteer any time during those days. Thank you.

Remembrance Poppies These will be on sale at break times and before school from the school office until Thursday.

Parent Support Drop-in Mrs Scriven is available most mornings for a confidential chat if you have any parenting issues or concerns. Mrs Scriven will also be available during the Monday Parents’ Evening until 5pm.
