ATTENDANCE

On Tuesday 20 September Bishop Martin took part in the West Lancashire School Sports Partnership Tag Rugby World Cup event at Glenburn Sports College. 10 schools took part with each team being given a different country to represent, Bishop Martin were Australia! Schools were split into two groups playing 4 games each. We played against Little Digmoor (2-1 win), Woodland (4-3 win), St. James (4-2 win) and Cobbs Brow (2-1 lose). This meant we finished second in the group and 3rd overall. Well done to all the players who took part they played really well and as always represented Bishop Martin fantastically! Thank you to all the supporters who came down to cheer us on! Team: Ruby, Molly, Louise, Harvey, Lloyd, Callum, Stevie, Bradley and Lewis. ‘The Didgeridoo man’ On Tuesday 20th October Johnny Cope, ‘The Didgeridoo man’ visited the Koalas class YR5 to teach us all about the culture of Australia, including the life of Aborigines. This fit nicely into this terms theme ‘The Land of Aus!’ We found lots of interesting facts about Australian animals- including Koalas of course! We really enjoyed it. We got to hold cool Australian artefacts and Johnny played the didgeridoo, also known as a yirdaki, he was great! We had a go on our own didgeridoos although it sounded like a herd of elephants. We learnt to dance like an emu and a kangaroo through learning about dreamtime stories. Johnny showed us aboriginal symbols and we made our own aboriginal art story. We also enjoyed making and decorating our own didgeridoos too. JOHNNY COPE YOU ARE AMAZING thank you for the visit. From Macy, Cameron and Jamie. Family/individual and Year 6 Class Photograph Orders All family/individual and year 6 class photographs have been given out this week. If you would like to order your child’s photograph please send in the order and payment either cheque or cash in the envelope provided no later than Thursday 5th November 2015.
