Determined Admissions Belthorn Academy Primary School Belthorn Road, Belthorn, Nr Blackburn Lancashire BB1 2NY School Number 11504 Admissions Policy 2016/17 NUMBER OF PUPILS TO BE ADMITTED 2016/2017 = 30 ADMISSIONS POLICY Pupils are admitted at the start of the school year in which they reach the age of 5, regardless of ability or aptitude. OVER SUBSCRIPTION Where application for admission exceeds the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied in the order set out below to decide which children to admit. Criteria 1a. Looked After Children and adopted children who were previously looked after– all children in public care will be given first priority. 1b. Children with special medical or social circumstances affecting the child where these needs can only be met at this school. Professional supporting evidence from eg a doctor, psychologist, social worker, is essential if admission is to be made under the criterion for special medical or social circumstances, and such evidence must set out the particular reasons why the school is question is the most suitable school and the difficulties which would be caused if the child had to attend another school. 2.Brother/sister relationship including half/step/foster and adopted siblings living at the same address. 3. Other who live within the area served by the school i.e. that reside in the village of Belthorn and the outlying areas of Guide and Lower Darwen. 4. Other children
