Welcome to Year 4 Literacy
Maths
This term we are reading and continuing a story packed full of dilemmas for characters to face. We will be attempting to create clear images in our reader’s minds through description and create a feeling of suspense. In our non-fiction unit we will be writing information texts.
We begin the year by looking at the place value of numbers up to 4 digits. Use old and new strategies for multiplication and division of 2 digit numbers. Tell the time on analogue and digital clocks and calculate time intervals. We will measure in mm, cm and m, begin to convert lengths and use this knowledge to solve problems.
Science
Topic

Our topic this term is a geography unit titled – Where would you choose to build a city? We will be researching cities across Britain and Europe, looking at their features and location using maps. We will end the unit by producing a holiday brochure for a city break. Religious Education Our first topic focuses on people, our families and the family of God in scripture. Later this term, we will also explore Judaism as a whole school.
player will follow. Language This year the children will be learning Spanish with Miss Wood. They will be developing their speaking skills and begin to write and read in Spanish. Other Year 4 will often visit Our Lady’s High School where they will be taught by the teachers there. The lessons include PE, science and Maths.
PE The children attend swimming this year to meet the National Curriculum requirements. Additionally, this term they will have gym sessions on a Tuesday.
