TIER OF ENTRY • The Controlled Assessment is not tiered and the full range of grades A*–G is available to all candidates for this unit.

• For the other units, candidates will take either the Foundation Tier or the Higher Tier. For candidates entered for the Foundation Tier, grades C – G are available; for candidates entered for the Higher Tier, A* – D are available.

• A combination of Foundation tier and Higher tier papers can be taken. Teachers will decide the pupils’ tier of entry in the spring term before the summer exams.

REVISION CLASSES • Revision classes will start after February half term. Details will be given to pupils and published on the school website.

• Available for all pupils • After school 3.30-4.15pm • Pupils may be specifically requested to attend revision classes if the classroom teacher feels extra intervention is needed.

Parents will be informed by letter or telephone if this is the case.

 REMEMBER: English Language is a test of literacy skills acquired over time coupled with exam technique; English Literature is this too but knowledge of the texts is essential.
