Well done to Year 4, 5 and 6 who have made an excellent start to the year; as a reward they may wear their own clothes next Friday.

The classes whose attendance is below the school target have been affected by people taking unauthorised holidays; this is very disappointing as it is made very clear that holidays must be taken during the school’s holiday period. It is also disappointing for the rest of the class who are striving for a non-uniform day!

Welcome Welcome to our new Reception classes who returned to school this week. They have settled in well and all look very smart in their school uniforms, enjoy school children, it is lovely to see all your smiling faces!

Next week we welcome our new nursery children to school full time, they have been for a half day visit today and looked very smart and eager to stay for the morning. I am sure they will all settle in well.

On Monday 21st September, we will be hosting an international visit for ten Chinese head and deputy head teachers. They will be visiting St Anne’s to look at how primary schools in Britain operate. We are very excited about their visit and are looking forward to showing them what a wonderful school St Anne’s is and how respectful all our pupils are. We will post pictures of their visit on our website for everyone to see.

Class Meetings, as part of welcoming children back to school this year each teacher will be holding a short 15 minute meeting for parents about the expectations for this

year. Please see the date below for your child’s class meeting. If you are unable to make the meeting, but need to speak to the teacher, please arrange an alternative time with them for after school.

Welfare Earrings -It has always been school policy that pupils should not wear earrings for school, especially during PE/Swimming sessions, as we cannot guarantee that injury will not be caused by wearing jewellery such as the post of a stud earring piercing the bone behind the ear or ear lobes being ripped (these are actual injuries that have happened). I have double checked today with the Health and Safety Officer of the Association of Physical Education who is categorical that all earrings must be removed for PE including swimming. If your child has newly pierced ears then they will need to cover them with plasters until healed, once healed they should then be removed for school.

Until they have been removed your child will not be able to participate in PE or Swimming.

New Door Entry System- to improve school security we now have a new entrance security system. If you need to access school via the main entrance please press the buzzer on the wall intercom and speak into the voice panel. A member of staff will then release the lock allowing you to gain entry.

Parking This week I have received two complaints about aggressive drivers parking their cars in ways which endanger our children. This is not acceptable! Despite regular reminders people are still parking on the yellow no parking lines outside the school gates and on the pavement, rather than parking a little further away and walking a short distance. We have new banners reminding parents about speed and parking outside the school, please take note of them! Next week a member of staff will be on duty each morning to deter such parking; if it continues details of offending drivers will be passed to the police. This is not an action we relish but will help to ensure that our pupils are safe when coming to school each day.

Witness The children chosen this week to receive a certificate in assembly for demonstrating this month’s Gospel Value, Acceptance, are: Year 1- Ismaeel and Enya, Amy and Amir Year 2- Malachi and Heli, Steven and Zuzanna Year 3-Angela and Bradley Year 4-Molly and Darcey Year 5- Marielle and Patryk Year 6- Djhone and Eryn Aaliyah and Caden – Rainbow Room

Word This year, KS1 and 2 class teachers have chosen 2 children each, to support the chaplains as RE ambassadors. They will help with the Wednesday Word and Gospel message for the week and support the teacher in class. We are trying very hard to develop pupil leaders in school and they are a welcome addition to a long list of pupils who represent the school to a high standard.

School Chaplains are; Ellie, Joe, Ciara, Maria, Liam, Henry, Taylor and Molly.

RE Ambassadors are: Celiece, Djhone(Y6), Parris, Wiktor (y5), Bailey, Elianna (Y4) Isobel, Osasere (Y3), Steven, Valerija (Y2H) Malachai, Valerie (Y2S) Thomas, Lily (Yr1 W) Victoria, Natan (yr1L) New KS2 Homework/Reading Diaries. Your child has been given a new Catholic homework diary today which contains some of the prayers we say in school, information on the sacraments and Rosary and weekly activities relating to each weeks Gospel message. Please take some time this weekend to look over their diary with them and discuss some of the activities.

Clubs beginning next week RE Chaplains Club – Tuesday 3-3.45pm with Miss Irene Yr4/5 Girls football- Monday 3-4pm with Mr Fox Yr4/5 Boys football-Thursday 3-4pm with Mr Foster Yr4/5 Cross Country- Friday 3-4pm with Mr Foster.

Worship The first Sacramental Programme Mass this year is on Sunday 27th September at 10.30am. It is important that your child attends this mass if you have given their name to Father Glover.

Our first school Mass is on Tuesday 29th September at 9.10am. Please come along and join us as we welcome in the new academic year.

During October we will be saying the Rosary with children during the lunchtime period. Several Parishioners have volunteered to come along and lead the Rosary which, weather permitting, will be said in our outdoor Oasis area. It would be lovely if we had some parent volunteers also. If you are interested in praying along with us and have some free time between 12 and 1pm please let Miss Irene or Mrs Regan know.

School Office Payments Payments to the school office- please ensure all cash payments are handed into the office in an envelope with your child’s name, the amount contained and reason for payment on the front. It is much easier to pay for school dinners, trips and before and aftercare online. If you require details of how to do this please speak to the office staff.
