MINUTES OF THE EXTRAORDINARY RYE SPORTS CENTRE ADVISORY MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 10 JUNE 2015 AT RYE COLLEGE Appointment of Chair It was agreed that the position should rotate each meeting with a representative from one of the three organisations who are signatories (East Sussex County Council – Rother District Council – Rye Academy Trust). Pauline Young (ESCC) will chair this meeting.

1- Members present Chair: Pauline Young – East Sussex County Council David Cooper – Rye Academy Trust Bernard Thomson – Rye Academy Trust Dominic Hormer – David Talbot – Freedom Leisure Ian Oliver – Freedom Leisure Scott Lavocah – Rother District Council John Breeds – Rye Town Council +1 Therese Croft – Clerk Pauline Young welcomed everyone and thank you Cllr Sam Souster for his hard work.

2- Apologies for absence Clr K. Glazier (ESCC) – T. Masters (Rye Academy Trust) – J. Lait 3- Disclosure of Interests No disclosure of interests 4- Minutes of the meeting dated 7 Jan 2015 A few points were highlighted for clarification in the proposed minutes. All present will need to initial.

5- Matters arising Agreement of the MUGA are now with the Academy.

6- ESCC Report Pauline Young reported that RDC has approached ESCC to request an extension to the Rye Licence for the Land that the swimming pool and car park sits on and which the Advisory Committee oversees operationally. The current Licence dated 15 October 2009, expires on 22 May 2024. The requested period is to 31 March 2026, this ties into the Rother Leisure Services new contract term.

Rother is looking for opportunity to build in a further option for an additional 10 year extension should they agree to extend further to their successful bidder.

ESCC agrees to an extension to 31 March 2026 with a clause for option to extend to 2036, following Rye Advisory Committee comment. The joint Use Agreement dated 1 April 2007 which expires at 31 March 2016 and thereafter from year to year, should remain in place with no changed position.

7- RDC Report Scott Lavocah (RDC) reported that the specification are now all completed. A discussion took place regarding the MUGA. It is hoped that the agreement will carry on between the two parties 8- Freedom Leisure See report attached Dominic Horner went through the report in details.

John Breeds asked why young children swim are decreasing, Dominic explained that this is because of the depth of water for Junior. Dominic also reported that the car park remains a massive issue particularly cash handling. RDC and Freedom Leisure will discuss and review the situation.

Bernard Thomson reported that there is an investigation on sewage pipes and he will report at the next meeting.

Pauline Young suggested to get a 5 year report showing the repairs and refurbishment plan, perhaps incorporate it at the end of the report. All present members agreed.
