Friday 3rd July 2015 Our News! We had a fabulous end to our topic about bears with our Teddy Bears’ Picnic! Despite it having to be an indoor picnic, due to the weather, we had a great time. We made lovely sandwiches and cakes, created our own teddy bear party hats and sang some lovely teddy bear songs. The children have loved pretending to be different characters from the Goldilocks story, acting it out and retelling it in their own words, outside in our very own three bears’ cottage! We have seen some fantastic writing too as they pretended to be Goldilocks and wrote letters to apologise to the three bears! The children have enjoyed making patterns with the compare bears and have used the bears to help them explore different ways to make a particular number using 2 different colours of bears. Last week we started a new topic about Gardens and Growing. We have enjoyed reading lots of different versions of the Jack and the Beanstalk story. Our role play areas are now the Giant’s castle and Jack’s cottage. We are turning our acting skills to retelling this familiar story! We have heard some lovely ‘Fee Fi Fo Fums!’ With our green fingers we have grown cress seeds and have started to plant some runner beans. We have been learning how to take care of them, give them what they need and have enjoyed observing the changes as they grow. In the creative area the children are enjoying making castles out of junk materials and have made some fabulous collages using different seeds and salt dough.

STARS OF THE WEEK Isabella Ibbison for her work on sun safety and Charlie Timperly-Green for being very helpful at lunchtimes Ruben Lear for fantastic character play, being a fabulous Baby Bear and Sadie Hill for super star letter writing to the three bears
