Leadership Curriculum National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership The Outstanding Leaders Partnership led by Ashton on Mersey School and managed by Best Practice Network is licensed by the National College for Teaching and Leadership to provide the leadership curriculum throughout the northwest region. The Outstanding Leaders Partnership is cross-phase and consists of Headteachers and other school leaders recognised nationally for their outstanding leadership. We offer:

Local and flexible access to high quality leadership learning through the National College for Teaching and Leadership programmes Facilitation and coaching from nationally accredited facilitators and leaders of outstanding schools High quality facilitated online courses offering flexible learning and support Dedicated support throughout and beyond their leadership journey

National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML) NPQML is assessed and accredited by the National College for Teaching and Leadership. The qualification provides recognition of leadership development and professional achievement. It has a flexible, modular structure that combines core modules with the freedom to specialise and to develop candidate’s own professional areas of interest through the choice of an elective module. Modules cover three learning areas: educational excellence, operational management, and strategic leadership. All focus on improving the effectiveness of leadership practice. Each module consists of workplace learning and practice activities, face-to-face workshops and online learning. Candidates will have the opportunity to:

Access high-quality learning materials and look at accounts of practice from outstanding leaders Reflect on their own leadership through discussion and debate with peers Put theory into practice and continue to improve their own leadership in order to have a greater impact within their institution

Activities within modules have been designed to stimulate and challenge thinking, build knowledge, skills and expertise, and promote change and improvement in leadership behaviours, capability and capacity.

Eligibility Criteria In order to secure a place on the qualification candidates must be a middle leader with responsibility for leading a team (for example, a key stage/subject/curriculum leader, head of department or pastoral leader). If they do not meet any of these criteria but are working at an equivalent level please contact us with details of their role and responsibilities and we can evaluate their readiness for the qualification.
