Where a suitable Art & Design subject has not been awarded, a portfolio of creative work may be provided as evidence of suitability.

Spanish GCSE Music

(French/German/Spanish) By the start of the course able to play an instrument or sing to grade 4 or 5 standard or higher. Does not have to have taken a grade 5 exam.

Must be able to understand standard music notation. GCSE Music and Grade 5 Theory useful but NOT essential.

THE 2PLUS PROGRAMME To follow a 2Plus level course, you must achieve GCSEs in the E/D/C region, with probably not more than four or five GCSEs at C grade or above.

The following courses are available for 2015/16: • Business (Retail) BTEC First Award • Creative Media Digital Production BTEC First Award • English Language GCSE • Health and Social Care BTEC First Award • Mathematics GCSE • City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Award in Business Administration, (Workplace Business) and Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools, (Workplace Child Education & Care). Each of these qualifications will be assessed in the work place.

Students are expected to choose at least 3 subjects, including Maths and/or English if these have not already been achieved at grade C. Students may also have the opportunity to combine two academic courses with an NVQ work based qualification which is based on working 1½ days per week with an employer whilst studying at SSFC. The NVQs are offered in conjunction with County Training.
