Friday 12th June 2015 Our News! We are so proud of all the children and how they have helped each other and us through what has been a very sad time. They have been so amazing and brave. We have lots of lovely memories of our friend Thomas and talking about these, looking at photographs and sharing how we are feeling has really helped. Thomas’s memory lives on every day with us in the Ducklings and he is greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family, who take comfort in the fact that he was so well-loved amongst his school friends. The children have loved reading the traditional tale of Goldilocks and the three bears. They have enjoyed retelling this familiar story using puppets and using their cutting skills to rearrange pictures of the story in the correct order. The children have amazed us with writing some Goldilocks stories of their own! Some of us have had a go at ordering different bears according to their size and others have even explored using tape measures. During snack time the children have enjoyed making their own healthy porridge, with lots of opportunities for measuring and exploring the capacity of different ingredients, using the microwave and setting the timer. They ate the lot! There was none left for Goldilocks! This week has been an amazing week exploring Healthy Living. We have made healthy fruit kebabs, taken part in our sponsored fitness activity, enjoyed our scooter day, designed healthy packed lunch boxes, completed a circuit of physical activities each afternoon and ended the week with a fantastic sports’ day!! Wow! We certainly are a healthy lot, who I’m sure will sleep well this weekend!
STARS OF THE WEEK Charlie Timperly-Green for always being kind and thoughtful and Lydia Pirie for making excellent progress with her reading. Leo Tough for being a super example of a Carleton child and Oliver Russell for being such an enthusiastic writer! Our next newsletter will be on Friday 26th June and will give details about all the fun activities we have planned for the next few weeks. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ring, email or come and see us. Staff email: Mrs Claydon l.claydon@carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk Mrs Catterall m.catterall@carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk
