Newsletter June 2015 Dear Parents and Carers Congratulation to Mr, Mrs Redhead (nee Miss Palmer) on the birth of Daisy-Mae on Thursday 21st May. Holker Garden Festival We are delighted to let you know that year 4 entered a scarecrow in to the Holker Festival schools’ competition and won! We were awarded the “Large Gold” certificate and will receive a large garden centre voucher, kindly donated by the Crooklands Garden Centre. Year 4 will be able to choose what to spend it on. The scarecrow was very special as it was based on the story of “Charlotte’s Web”. Many of the animals from the story are attached to scarecrow. The scarecrow is female on one side and male on the As it was made by the whole class we all took it to Holker Hall Friday before half-term. We all had a special, free, guided tour and then lunch in the school room.

New School Logo We are having a new, modernised logo put onto all our new school uniform. This will be in stock at “Identity” ready for the new term in September. For a couple of years we understand that children will be coming to school wearing both logos – so please don’t go out and buy new ones specially until you need to. Places in Nursery and Reception We still have a few spare places for Reception for September – so please check that your neighbours and friends have registered their children. Places for Reception are administered by the County Council School Places Team to begin with until the final allocation date. However they only have a list of children who have applied and no record of those who haven’t. Places in the nursery are administered differently. Places here are on a first come, first served basis – when the nursery is full it is full. Many parents put their very young children’s names on a waiting list so that places are reserved for them when they are 2. As the new government is promising 30 free hours for 3 and 4 year olds very soon, please think about what you would like for your child and talk to Vicky (Nursery manager) about it. We don’t want Roose families to miss out. Places are also available for 2 year olds – again please talk to Vicky. The direct telephone line for the nursery is: 07548 833392.
