Headteacher – Mrs A Gray Rabbits Class Following our UK theme during dance week, Rabbits Class had a very special visit from Mr Whyment and his bagpipes. At first, we were surprised at the volume of the bagpipes, but we quickly started to enjoy the music and danced along! It was very exciting to have live music in our classroom and we even got the opportunity to have a try at playing them ourselves. It's VERY hard! Thank you Mr Whyment!
ATTENDANCE Attendance figures for week ending 15th May 2015. Congratulations to the Lions on achieving 99.3%
Chess The Chess season has kicked off with a bang over the last week with two matches and the Chess Congress taking place within the space of seven days! We began with a match against St Thomas (last year's champions). We lost that game very closely 10-7 (the highlight being a brilliant checkmate by Che on board 1!). We then played St Francis and registered one of our biggest ever wins (a HUGE 15-3 victory!). Then last night 8 pupils travelled to Holland Moor for the annual congress. We played some fantastic chess and came 3rd out of 9 schools with a score of 139 points (only 15 behind the winners! So close!). Well done to everyone who has represented the school at chess over the last week: Che (Y6), Caitlin (Y6), Phillip (Y6), Keelan (Y6), Koby-Jack (Y6), James (Y6), Millie (Y6), Rhiannon (Y6) and Molly (Y5). Stay posted after half-term for more league results! ‘Wake up and Live!’ ‘Wake up and Live!’, that’s the theme Y5 Giraffes and Dolphins have followed this term…all about Jamaica! On Thursday, we all took turns to make some extremely exotic and delicious Jamaican dishes using a range of kitchen utensils. We made Mango and Coconut Chicken, Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry, Jamaican Stew and topped it off with Stuffed Reggae Reggae Rice Peppers…mmmm! The children had great fun and enjoyed the Jamaican feast, some even came back for seconds! A massive thanks to everyone involved, especially Miss Nolan, Miss Smith and Mrs Milward.
