Katie Morag Design Challenge.

“Frame This!”

• Design and make a frame for Katie Morag to give to one of her Grannies.

• It must be stable and stand up on it’s own.

• It must have a photo of your choice of Katie Morag on the front.

• It must be decorated so that we can tell which of Katie Morag’s Grandmas it is for.

Experimenting with different techniques to make pieces of card stand up on their own.

Experimenting with pegs and lolly sticks.

Experimenting with sellotape, glue and lollipop sticks.

Experimenting cutting out legs from pieces of card.

Experimenting rolling and bending card.

Experimenting with straws and wooden circles.

Here are some of our finished frames.

Robin has made a leg for his frame using card, just like you would find on a real photoframe.

Granny Mainland would love this colourful glittery frame. She loves all things colourful and glittery.

Jack has used 4 wooden circles to make sure it is stable.

Sam made a frame for Granny Island. She loves tractors and sheep. His frame uses lots of wooden circles stuck on the back to keep it stable.

Archie worked really hard to bend his card into different shapes to make his frame stand up. It is extremely effective.

Mia and Iona used pretty pink card to make their frames for Granny Island because she likes everything pink. See how Mia folded her card so that she could add the wooden circles and make her frame stable. And look how Iona used lollipop sticks to strengthen the base of her card before she stuck her wooden circles on.
