Lomeshaye Life What’s Been Happening This Week? It has been a very busy week at Lomeshaye Junior School. Children have continued with some excellent learning during the day and as part of their after school clubs and we have also discovered that our new Headteacher for September will be Miss Jones, which everyone is delighted about. This weeks newsletter is about helping families to send their children to school with healthy packed lunches as it has been noticed that many children are coming to school with large amounts of food that is high in sugar and fat. Packed lunches should contain healthy choices and a balance of food which will give a child energy, protein for growth and vitamins and minerals to keep them healthy. YOUR CHILD’s PACKED LUNCH SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS… Sandwiches with a meat, fish or chesse filling, 1 or 2 pieces of fruit Water or fruit juice drink Yoghurt or small biscuit
There should be NO chocolate sandwiches, huge chunks of cake or cold takeaway food if you want your child to be able to learn in the afternoon and to lead a healthy life. Good eating habits start at an early age. Nepal Fund Raising— As you will be aware a devastating natural disaster has occurred in Nepal very recently. Families have been torn apart and homes lost in the earthquake and aftershocks that took place last week. The School Council have met this week and decided that as a school we would like to help the people of Nepal to rebuild their lives following the disaster. To begin the fund raising efforts there will be a “Cake and Biscuit Sale” on Thursday 7th May and on Friday 8th May we will have a non-uniform day where each child and staff member will bring £1 to school and wear their own clothes. If you wish to make any further donations it will be gratefully received, please hand all money in to your child’s class teacher. The School Council hope that the money raised will help to build shelters for people that have lost their homes or provide Aqua Boxes to supply fresh water.
