Drugs and Safety Education Below you will find a breakdown of the topics covered in each year group. The full range of lessons are part of a spiral curriculum allowing children to revisit the same messages at different levels of development. Year 1 In Year 1, children learn: •

Some things are good for the body and some things are bad for the body. Why medicines are good for us, the rules about medicines, where medicines should be kept. Who gives us medicines, when are medicines required.

Year 2 In Year 2, children learn: • The positive use of medicines and how medicines get in to the body. • Who helps keep us well, some people need medicine to stay well. • Rules for different situations and how rules keep us safe. • Hazard symbols on substances and household products.
