Year 2 SATs National Expectations and Results

Page 1

National Expectations  Every Year 2 child in the country is expected to get a level 2 or above (2B being average). The level 2 band is divided into 3 sections 2A, 2B and 2C, where 2A is the highest.  Children awarded a level 3 are achieving above national expectation.  Children working at level 1 are performing below national expectation.

Results  The results of the tests help the school with the tracking of pupils’ progress, which will continue until Year 6.  Each child will receive their results in their annual report.

Expectations  Children are given the opportunity in school to practise using past papers so that they are familiar with the layout.  The children will be thoroughly prepared for the tests through practise.  All the tests will be carried out in silence and it is important that this is stressed to the children.  All children need to be in school on time throughout the week.  If your child is not going to be in school for any particular reason you need to ring the office before the start of the school day.  To help your child perform to the best of their ability it is important that they are not tired and that they just see it as another Literacy or Numeracy lesson.
