Lomeshaye Life What’s Been Happening This Half Term? We are already half way through the second part of our Spring Term with Easter fast approaching. All pupils are working hard to achieve their targets, which will be assessed in 2 weeks time. There have also been lots of exciting events taking place during our whole school Art Attack theme. All classes began this half term with a full day of arts activities which link to their theme. Year 3 explored art in the great outdoors which involved using a selection of artists work to develop new skills; Year 4 used pointillism to create habitats and Year 5 children made their own sketchbooks and developed ideas for a block print. In addition, in 5 Cedar, they contributed to a class painting and used stop motion animation to bring it to life. Frozen Museum The school hall was transformed last week as it the year 3 children showcased their fairy tale masks which they had created s part of their ‘Once Upon a Time’ theme. Parents were treated to a special presentation of their outstanding work and were given the opportunity to view the fairy tale street of houses which had been completed for homework. The work that has been done is of an extremely high standard and the competition was very difficult for Mrs Pleasants to judge as the children put a very high level of effort in to their projects. Well done year 3! Edward Foster Local artist Edward Foster has been in school working with year 3 and 4 children to develop a range of approaches to drawing. Children have made links with mathematics whilst using shapes to develop in to animal sketches and group collaborations. SATs Preparation The end of Key Stage 2 SATs will take place the week beginning 11th May. Pupils are working hard to prepare themselves for the tests and we have a record number of pupils who will be taking the level 6 papers. If your child is involved in a booster session please ensure that they arrive in school on time (for morning booster) and are collected on time for after school boosters. Staff are giving up their time to give extra support to pupils and this will help them to achieve their full potential in May. School Website The School’s new website is now up and running with lots of useful information for parents and children. Please take time to have a look around the website, which is updated regularly with news and events. There are links to websites which support your child's learning and information about school events, curriculum and key policies. The website address remains unchanged: www.lomeshaye.lancsngfl.ac.uk
