Thank you for all your positive feedback; it is always nice to hear what you feel we do well. The students are always our priority and it is reassuring to see that this is recognised.

As we are a community school, holidays are decided by Lancashire County Council. Schools must have 190 openings per year for students.

We are investigating adopting an electronic payment system.

We appreciate that last school year was challenging for both staff and students but some staffing reductions were necessary to achieve a balanced budget. We have addressed this area now and are looking forward to a period of stability. Some staff left to promotion or retirement and I am afraid there is little that we can do to influence staff turnover for these reasons.

All students are set targets in the form of MEGs (the minimum expected grade we would like your child to achieve) and AGs (an aspirational grade for when students achieve their MEG). It is these targets that we report on when we send home data capture information. We will look to send home more detailed information regarding this.

We have introduced a new system of monitoring and reporting progress this year. We feel that this has increased both the rigour and the accuracy of the information we have on student progress. If you feel that this is still not giving you a detailed enough picture of your child’s progress, please contact the Year 10 Progress Leader and she will address any queries. The current reporting system is one of the mechanisms we have for informing parents that their child is struggling or not achieving in line with their target. If our teachers are concerned about the progress your child is making, they will contact you to discuss this.

There is a structured programme for form times which includes the thought for the day, literacy, numeracy and the opportunity to look at current affairs. As we continuously look to improve our provision, we will endeavour to discuss this with our student council.
