Our strengths      

Each teacher I have spoken to genuinely gives honest feedback and knows my child well. It’s clear to see this.

It has been lovely to hear constructive reports and teachers speaking so highly and passionately about the children in their classes.

Suggested improvements          

None – I am more than happy with this school – the results demonstrate the hard work and commitment; welcoming feedback as an example of this.

Community involved more More diverse ways of teaching in some areas Stick to sport schedules (training gets cancelled a lot) Make music as an option Although we are invited to parents’ evening I think for year 11, one just before the mocks would be beneficial as well Names on the walls at parents’ evening should tell the parents the teachers’ subject.

The hall is noisy – it’s difficult to hear at times.

Reduce costs of excursions Homework – could sometimes do with improved communication for the students. My child believes this would help him.

We are continuously looking for ways in which we can involve the community more in the life of the school. If you have any suggestions, please contact the school.

Improving teaching is a constant focus for us. We use our INSET time to develop and introduce new strategies and gain student feedback on this through our faculty student questionnaires.

Music is offered to students at Key Stage 4 within the Performing Arts course. This was as a result of student feedback about options they wished to take.

The timing of all parents’ evenings is reviewed annually to ensure that teachers, parents and students gain the maximum benefit as a result. This school year we held one of our “Fully Loaded” sessions prior to the November mock exams and felt that parents’ evening would be better timed prior to the March mock exams.

It is a good idea to include subjects; we will look to try and include this at future parents’ evenings.

We are sorry that you find the hall noisy at times. Unfortunately it is the only room large enough to house such an event.

We appreciate the cost of excursions can be quite high. Unfortunately this is due to the prices charged by the travel companies. We do try to find the cheapest price but admit that this can still be quite high.

Homework has been one of our key priorities this year. We hope that the introduction of “Show My Homework” increases the communication for students on the requirements of the homework set. If you child has lost their log in or forgotten their password, please ask them to contact Mrs Hoyle. The added benefit that parents can also have a log in should also help to improve the communication. Feedback on the Show my Homework package would be appreciated. Again, please send this to Mrs Hoyle.
