Lomeshaye Life What’s Been Happening This Week? There is an amazing buzz of excitement around school at the moment as staff and pupils get engrossed in their learning themes and specially arranged visits. This weeks snowy weather has added to the fun in school and thankfully we have remained open to get the most out of every school day. Read on to find out more about this weeks events… The Lion King— This week all pupils in Year 3 and 6 made the wonderful visit to The Palace Theatre in Manchester in order to watch the spectacular Lion King production. The coaches arrived at school just before 12.30 to transport 150 children and 25 adults to the show. The snow had been falling all morning and the forecast wasn’t good. Thankfully, all roads into Manchester were fine and the coaches arrived in time for the 2.30pm performance. The adults and children were all very excited as they prepared for the amazing show filled with singing, dancing and awesome animal costumes and puppets. The cast of over 40 actors, singers and dancers made the story come to life in front of our very eyes, telling the tale of Simba’s adventures and his journey into adulthood, learning the responsibilities of life and becoming a king. The children were extremely well behaved throughout the day, once again showing that they are fantastic ambassadors for the school. NOTE TO PARENTS—the coaches didn’t arrive back at school until shortly after 7pm, so next week when Year 4 and 5 pupils go, please be aware that the coach could return at this time. School will keep you informed on the day. Gambia Assembly—While Year 3 and 6 went to Manchester this week the children in Year 4 and 5 were treated to a wonderful assembly by Miss Payne and our friends in The Gambia. A number of times each year we receive pieces of work and presentations from the children at Biljao Basic School in The Gambia as well as sending them letters, pieces of work and equipment for their school. Miss Payne shared with the classes the most recent delivery from our friends in Africa who helped us to think about global citizenship and religion in our assembly this week. Revision Guides for Year 6—If your child is in Year 6 this week you should have received a letter about revision study guides for the upcoming SATs tests. Orders are now being taken for the books which are sold at a significantly reduced price. Please complete the slip and send money to school in an envelope if you would like books ordering. Orders will only be taken until 30th January so please DO IT NOW to avoid disappointment.
