Ashton Highlights Newsletter 14
Friday 16th January 2015
Dear Parents/Carers We have only been back 2 weeks and we have already managed to pack in a number of activities and events, which you can read about in the newsletter. Running club returned from the Christmas break with a vengeance last week, with members new and old taking to the pavements of Ashton and the surrounding areas. It really is a sight to behold when they set off from school, runners of all ages and abilities united in one common goal; to keep fit and healthy. As I sit here in my warm room typing this, I listen to the wind howling outside and hope that we escape the storm damage that has affected many homes and businesses this week. I also pause to spare a thought for the group of our year 10 “Girls into Engineering” students who set off on Monday with Miss Ascroft for a 5 day Outward Bound residential week in Wales. This fantastic opportunity is sponsored by The Smallpeice Trust and BAE Systems and is aimed at encouraging girls to enter careers in engineering by building their skills and confidence. You will be able to read all about it in next week’s newsletter. There has been a great response to the Cardiac Risk in the Young promotion run by Cadley FC. In case you missed it last week, we have run the details again on page 7. Finally, can I remind you that Inspire has some great New Year offers on. The client base of the salon is growing steadily and we have found that once clients have ventured over the threshold of the salon, perhaps a little apprehensive about having students undertake hair and beauty treatments, they have left absolutely delighted with the end results, so why not give this facility a try? You can find contact details on page 4. As always, we look forward to hearing any good news stories or reasons to celebrate success, so please contact school should you wish anything to be included in the next edition of the newsletter.
Best wishes Sharon Asquith
