High levels of attendance are vitally important, as primary school education lays the foundation blocks for all future learning. Requests for absence during term time may only be authorised in exceptional circumstances (e.g. a child’s illness, the funeral of an immediate family member or religious observance). This will be at the discretion of the Head Teacher, and a pupil’s attendance and achievement levels will be taken into account when considering any request. A child’s absence from school for more than ten consecutive school days may result in their removal from the school roll.
How
you can help:
1. Make sure your child understands the importance of good attendance and punctuality. 2. Don’t let your child miss school for minor ailments. 3. Arrange appointments and outings after school hours or at weekends or school holidays. 4. Check the school website and newsletters for term dates when planning your holidays. Ensure holidays are booked during the 14 weeks that school is closed.
