Friday 9th January 2015

Happy New Year! I hope 2015 began well for you. I wonder if, like many of us here in school, you made any new year resolutions? The start of a new year is often a time for reflection and change and in school we are lucky to have 2 opportunities for this, one in September and one in January. We started the school year in September with a resolve to live our ethos of PROUD to the full. We decided to focus on standards of dress in particular and our students responded positively, arriving each day in full uniform and not only that, wearing it correctly and smartly. We have been especially pleased that this has carried on throughout the term and into the new year. Visitors to school comment on how smart our students look and how polite they are. I am sure you will share my feelings of pride when you hear this, because first impressions really do matter and your children are creating some very positive ones! This term, we are concentrating on the ‘D’ of PROUD, namely determination. We have always emphasised the need to work hard in order to achieve goals, whether those goals be academic, sporting, musical or personal. Nothing comes without effort. As the school year rolls by at an alarming pace, we will be encouraging our students to work even harder and stay focused on their goals, even when things present as difficult. A positive work ethic will see them through the short term challenges that school poses and help hem learn valuable life lessons that will stand them in good stead when school is a dim and distant memory. We will be asking our students to give of their very best at all times; 100% effort and commitment and nothing less. I know I can count on your support. I would like to remind you that school now publishes all homework online via the Show My Homework link on the school webpage. If your child has lost their log in details, or if you would like to request a parental account so you can monitor what is being set for your child, please contact Mrs Hoyle and she will be happy to assist. Best wishes Sharon Asquith
