ARR Statement 2014-15 Assessment without levels Unity Academy and other FCAT academies will continue to use the traditional NC levelling system during this academic year until a working party across all academies has established an agreed way to move forward. Given the rapid need to influence results during 2013-14, it was felt by the FCAT Data & Assessment network and agreed by the FCAT directors that an alternative to levels needs to be well developed across the trust and as such this should be a priority during the academic year 2014-15. All college and phase leads MUST ensure that new national curriculum programmes of study are aligned to a national curriculum level; it is not acceptable to simply use the level descriptors from the old national curriculum. Statements outlining these new levels are enclosed. The FCAT Assessment & Data network has launched a consultation to gather the responses of staff within all academies (including a sixth form college and outstanding academy). This consultation has now closed and responses are being collated. The group will meet again in January 2015 to establish a possible route forward for assessing without levels, this will then be developed and shared with curriculum groups within FCAT. Reporting to Parents/Carers Parents will receive one written and two interim reports per year. In addition they will receive data updates after each data collection with the most up to date results for their child. Rapid Action on Progress Key staff will meet regularly to review progress and manage interventions throughout the year. College/Phase leads will be asked to represent themselves at these meetings where appropriate. Students will update action plans and flight paths in planners once per half term following feedback from form tutors. Review A full ARR policy will be published during the course of this year once the FCAT data network have established a route forward for assessment across FCAT, in the interim period the ARR information outlined in the academy education brief still stands.
