BLACKPOOL ASPIRE ACADEMY

PUPIL PREMIUM STATEMENT 2014-2014

For the financial year September 2014 –August 2015, Blackpool Aspire Academy will receive £482,000 funding for pupil premium students. This is to support 483 students in their progress and to improve their life chances. It will be spent in phases throughout this year, which will be closely monitored and reported on.

PHASE ONE – introduced September 2014: First monitoring of Impact : November 2014

Item /Project Additional Maths and English teachers that build in capacity to target pupil premium students either as pupil premium classes and/or smaller class sizes and/or withdrawal groups for specific targeted intervention.

Cost £40,000 – English teacher £40,000 – Maths teacher

Objective To support the achievement within English and maths in all year groups

Proposed Outcome That PP students will make the same or better progress than their peers.

Librarian time

Additional staffing hours in English and maths for small group support. Additional time - form time created for Renaissance reading programme and numeracy. External mentor to raise aspirations, self belief and esteem to reduce barriers to attainment and achievement in school. Intervention teacher with responsibility for English and maths booster classes – small group work.

£6,700 every Tuesday September – 13 boys working with External Mentor.

£16,649 for two terms

To identify and accelerate literacy skills and students to become more numerate. To support both the self belief and achievement within English and Maths in Years 10 & 11.

Creation of a KS4 accelerated progress centre .

That PP boys will make the same or better than non PP boys .

Most vulnerable students achieve their full potential in line with personalised targets set.
