To improve hand-eye co-ordination To recognise the fundamentals skill used in tennis

Progression: 1 Tennis Warm Up: Coach puts down lines or spots players start from one of the court must reach the other side by stepping on the lines or spots, looking alignment of the body and posture, look at the serves stance

Introduction to the activity. Make sure that children know the boundaries and understand what the individuals have to do including breakdown of subroutines, seek any knowledge about tennis that participants will know off.

Learning Objective.

Recognise how to hold a tennis racket with the correct grip.

Understand the correct way to stand when hitting the ball.

Warm Up: Players sit on the floor in a team line, On command player 1 stands up goes and gets the balls and returns back as fast possible (RELAY).Next player goes and gets the racket.(Explode) look at SAQ.(Speed, Agility Quickness)

Catch Tennis: Look at the basic Technique.

Individuals get into Groups of five only when coaches say, side stepping throwing the ball to and from other participants in a circle. Saying their name and anything they know about tennis, if they know rules, techniques within the game.

Teaching Points

The aim of the game is to score points by getting a small soft ball or air ball over the net.

Play the game one vs. one. Use a net bench or line on a long narrow court (About 3m-5m long on each side of the net and another towards the back of the court. A racket can be used to hit a ball or shuttle cock. The technique of a partner deeding can be used, but the feed should be full toss.

If opponent aim is to intercept the ball or bean bag before it bounces.

Progression: 6 Tournament Day

Warm Up: Relay Races (Being creative/ Any different warm up).

Disco Tag: 2 people are on: Every time they tag someone the defender or the guard count the number of people they have counted. Make sure the pulse raiser, relate this to score systems 15,30,40.

Introduction: Discuss regulations and rules. Recap on whiteboard what they need to know and what they will learn in tennis.
