How to support your child’s learning at home Helping at Home Read with your child every night ask them what the book is about, who are the characters, what do they do? Practice times tables every night, test your child so that they know all of their times tables when called out randomly. Ask your child to complete writing tasks for you, a shopping list, a story for a member of the family, perhaps they could start writing a diary of what they do each day and how they feel. Ask your child about their day at school, what they have been learning about. Make sure that they do their homework and bring it back to school on time. Encourage your child to come to homework club at lunchtime. Ensure that your child attends every booster club and/or tuition session.

Don’t forget that PE is .on Thursday. Key DatesVisit to Buddhist place of worship – Date to be confirmed

Homework Children bring a set of spellings home on a weekly basis, these words will then be tested in class the following week. One set of Maths and one set of Literacy is given weekly but extra tasks can be set during the week which support what the children are learning. Topic homework is set on a weekly basis in a number of different formats. HOMEWORK IS SET FOR A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT REASONS AND SHOULD BE COMPLETED TO THE BEST STANDARD POSSIBLE- THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THIS YEAR WHEN HOMEWORK HAS BEEN RETURNED IN AN UNACCEPTABLE WAY WITH POOR PRESENTATION AND LACK OF EFFORT.
