Friday 28th November 2014 Our News! The children enjoyed anti-bullying week especially the story about Billy the Bully! They each made a helping hand and decorated it. On each finger they wrote the name of someone they could talk to or ask for help if they felt someone was being unkind to them. Come in and see them! It was lovely to hear that the children felt that there were no bullies in their class, but they know what to do if ever they need help. This week we have enjoyed the visit from Canine Education which was really informative and the children now know how to behave around unfamiliar dogs and the signs to look for when dogs are happy, scared or angry. Mrs Hacking, who works for the ambulance service, Mr Ainsworth, a local milkman and two soldiers from the local garrison at Weeton have also been to visit us. All this talk of different jobs has given the children the idea of thinking about what they would like to be when they grow up! We have had a very unusual visitor to our class too! An alien that has crash landed its spaceship on our school field!! It has been a great stimulus for talking and writing about. We have also enjoyed painting and writing about our very own imaginative aliens too. We have all done very well with learning our sounds and tricky words in phonics and are getting better at blending the sounds together to read words. Please keep learning any sounds or tricky words that you are unsure of and keep putting the sounds together and practise blending them. The children have been showing us how fantastic they are at making patterns! They have been making patterns absolutely everywhere – on the playground with building bricks, cones and beanbags, with paint on the creative table, using pegs and peg boards, lego, on the smartboard and even using our bodies to clap, stamp and click or make different shapes with our bodies. Our Christmas performance is coming along nicely. The children have been practising their actions and lines on the stage and are enjoying learning the songs and dances. Thank you to all of those who have brought in their costumes. Please can we have any outstanding costumes by Monday 1st December ready for our dress rehearsal? Please see your child’s class teacher if you have any concerns. Thank you to everyone who attended the Physical Development session on Wednesday. Everyone has received a handout of the presentation and a leaflet about things to do at home. If there are any questions please feel free to ask any one of us and we will help you as much as we can.

STARS OF THE WEEK Oliver Russell for completing lots of challenges in class and Sadie Hill for making some lovely repeating patterns. Noah Penistone for super ideas during class discussions and Ollie Walsh for being very brave and stroking Moses the dog. Our next newsletter will be on Friday 12th December and will give details about all the fun activities we have planned for the last week and the new term! Any questions please don’t hesitate to ring, email or come and see us. Staff email: Mrs Claydon l.claydon@carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk Mrs Catterall m.catterall@carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk
