We arranged an Early Years and Phonics morning, we invited you in for our tree planting ceremony, you came in for decoration morning and enjoyed Christmas dinner with us.

You celebrated Chester Bear’s birthday with a party, we held the pedalathon. We had our weekly Reading CafÊ.

Already this year we have had a Sharing Morning, phonics session and Harvest celebration.

You were anxious about the transition to Year 1

We had a meet the teacher morning to get to know Mrs Garner for parents and the children had 3 sessions. We also sent home summer workbook.

2013-14 weekly newsletter, this year we are offering a enewsletter, we have added a noticeboard and we are have updated our school website to include an APP feature.

We arranged informal parent conversations within the first month of school, we hold termly parent consultations and sent home termly reports . Plus we are always happy to talk to you at the beginning and end of the day.

We organised Spanish, French, dance and sports clubs

You wanted us to support the local community

We supported Cambridge City Food Bank, Milton Children’s Hospice, we helped to switch Chesterton’s Christmas lights on, we also joined in with the CB4 We Sing project

You were concerned that your children didn’t have older role models

We organised peer mentoring and a buddy system with Shirley Primary School, their children joined us weekly for reading and lunch.

You wanted to know how to support your child’s learning at home

We organised weekly home learning linked to class learning. Throughout the year we hold phonics, reading and Maths sessions for parents.

You wanted support at home with behaviour or health issues

We involved the school nurse, family support workers and other agencies.

We also have an open door policy to support you when needed

You wanted you children to have an enriched curriculum

We organised a trip to the theatre, trips to Tesco to learn about food, we went to Shepreth, Bramblefields and Grumpy’s the Pet shop. We also organised an Everybody Writes day.

We had lots of visitors including parents.

You wanted to share your child’s interests and achievements with us

We sent home interest and achievement stars and encouraged you to send in interest and achievement boxes.
