School Council Fairtrade Steering Group Minutes

Steering Group Meeting 2 Minutes Tuesday 11th November 2014  Fairtrade Hamper for Christmas Fair.

Steering group were informed that they are needed to sell tickets for our Fairtrade Hamper Raffle stall at this year’s Christmas Fair.

Children to find out from Parents if they can definitely attend the fair in order for Miss B to arrange a Timetable for ticket selling.

Steering Group were asked for suggestions to what products could be put in the Hamper: Chocolate, Sugar, Tea, Coffee, Biscuits, Wine and Handwash were all valid suggestions. Miss B to spend £20 on Hamper Goods.

Children suggested asking Mrs Cox to make up the Hamper using Fairtrade coloured cellophane.

Miss B suggested all councillors to design a Fairtrade Hamper Raffle Poster to be displayed in school. These to be handed to Miss B asap.  Children In Need Day Fri 14th This year we will support Fairtrade by buying Fairtrade icing sugar and chocolate to decorate cakes for Children In Need Day.

Steering Group needed at 9am to decorate cakes in order for icing sugar to set before break time. Miss B to speak to classteachers about releasing them for 30 minutes.  Governors Learning Walk Steering Group were informed about Governors Learning Walk. Children were briefed about the role of Governors and what questions they may like to ask the Governors.

The Role of Steering Group was discussed again and our plans for the renewal of the award were revisited in case the Governors wish to know this.  A.O.B Fizaa and Maia asked about the possibility of having a Bike rack installed at the side of school so pupils may travel on bike to school and have them stored safely.

This was sadly turned down by staff as the safety of the pupils may be compromised if children travel to school by bike on Blackburn Road.

Pupils wished to mention that they are thoroughly enjoying doing corrections in Green Pen! They said it makes their corrections easier to see.

Noah suggested that Miss B and Mrs Carr mark in sparkle pink.. Now that would just be amazing Noah!
