Pupil premium 2014

The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for FSM in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.

Nature of support 2013/14 and impact of PPG spending • Subsidise school trips and PGL to give children experiences and activities that impact on school curriculum, self esteem and social skills • Fund specialist visitors to work with children e.g., artists, drama and language experts. The work carried out by these professionals impacts on the confidence of our children. This is evidenced in our standards which continue to improve in all areas including self esteem and social skills e.g. Manchester Arts, Speech bubble, social skills, toe by toe • Funding for Speech Therapist one day per week. This is in recognition of the language difficulties on entry • Subsidise Year 6 activities, particularly PGL and work with Manchester Arts in Education Initiative • Provide free music lessons, in particular Choir, Brass and strings for KS2 children • Part fund extra Teaching Assistant staff who work on particular intervention initiatives. These include behaviour (Dinosaur Club) and Rainbows groups. The latter group are children who have experienced any type of ‘loss’, e.g., parental divorce, bereavement in the family, etc. Feedback from parents who have allowed their children to be part of this group is very positive.

• Teaching assistant finding to lead pupil premium after school clubs.

• School employs a trained Social Worker from Caritas. The worker is able to advise families in many social issues and create and maintain contacts with outside organisations. The worker is also able to deliver behavioural advice as well as being supportive to the school in child protection areas.
