Thanks to all the parents who came to support our Wow a ernoon at the end of last term. We hope you enjoyed working with your child and some of the houses looked amazing! This term is going to be fun filled with various events leading up to Christmas. Some of the dates that you need to be aware of are highlighted in the Key Dates sec&on of this newsle'er.
What we’re doing this term
☺ Canine Educa&on Monday 24th November ☺ KS1 Christmas Performance 9th December @ 6pm 10th December @ 9.30am ☺ KS1 Christmas Party 18th December @1.30pm ☺ School closes for Christmas 19th December @ 2.30pm
Our topic this term is en&tled ‘Fire!’ The children will be learning about The Great Fire of London, changing materials and of course Christmas! We hope your children enjoy their learning journey and are able to engage with the topic this term. Homework will be set in the same style as last half term. We hope you found the new homework format enjoyable and less of a weekly burden! Year 1 and 2 will be ge2ng ready to begin prac&cing for their Christmas Performance en&tled Jesus@bethlehemstable.com. We will flash forward in &me every now and then to mobile phones (they would have made booking an Inn so much easier), sat-navs (to locate the stable), and even scanners (a due date), but despite their curious dreams, the na&vity characters get by with donkeys, stars and angels... and everyone meets up in a beau&ful tableau before the rocking finale. More informa&on will follow.
Class webpage & blog One of the features of our new school website is that every class has a page on the website. This is to share with you, informa&on about what your child’s class will be doing. Alongside this each class will have a blog. A blog is to share with you the work that the children have been doing. This is a fantas&c way to celebrate children’s work and to give them a real purpose and audience for their work. Mr Boyd’s class have started theirs and is accessible via the website www.carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk or the QR code opposite. Other classes will be ge2ng their pages up and running soon!
General Reminders Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and that all items are clearly labelled. Earrings are not allowed for PE and should either be removed by the child or plasters provided to cover the earrings. If earrings are not removed or covered your child will not be able to par&cipate in PE due to health and safety. Now that winter is approaching please ensure that your child has a coat in school in order for them to be able to go outdoors at play&me or for outdoor learning. A reminder that children are only allowed to bring fruit and water in to school for snack. We’ve had a couple of cases of hair lice in school so please can you can check your child’s hair regularly and treat as necessary.
