Linden Road Primary School Newsletter for Parents/Carers 17th October 2014 The first half term of the new academic year is drawing to a close already and I have been so impressed, not only with the children’s attitudes towards learning, but also with the way they conduct themselves in and around school and with their respect for others. There have already been a number of trips out of school and I am delighted to say that our pupils have been commended for their excellent behaviour. This positive attitude and fabulous behaviour goes to reflect the pride we all have in being part of our school community, which I know can only continue to grow. Keep it up everyone—you are all a credit to yourselves and your school. There is no further news on Academisation, but it is highly unlikely that the conversion will take place on 1st November. Be assured that you will be kept informed on any progress. There will be a full consultation with parents regarding school uniform after half term. Target cards will be sent home next Friday. Have a restful break everyone.
Tuesday—Friday after school next week in the sports hall Years 1 & 2 Trip to the Chestnut Centre As always, the children had a fantastic time learning about different animals and birds and the habitats they live in. The sun was shining and it was almost like summer again! Ainsley & Joshua said: “Years 1 and 2 went to the Chestnut Centre and we enjoyed it. We learnt that burrow owls dig under ground and some owls can turn their neck all the way round. We liked the otter sound”.
Year 4 lead the way! Whilst Y4 were on their way back to the coach through Denton Park after swimming today, a lady stopped one of our staff members especially to comment on how well our pupils were behaving. “That is the best behaved class of children I have ever seen!” were her words. Thank you Y4 for representing Linden Road so brilliantly!
Help us to encourage the children to eat healthily by sending them to school with a piece of fruit to eat at morning break. No biscuits, cakes, cereal bars, crisps etc.
