Lomeshaye Life What’s Been Happening This Week? It has been an extremely productive week at Lomeshaye as we come to the end of the first half term of the academic year. Assertive Mentoring Meetings have taken place with every child in school for writing and maths. Read more below to enable you to continue to support your child’s learning at home. Harvest parcels have been delivered to the residents of Imperial Gardens, Nelson. Parents of year 5 children enjoyed a film premier of their work with Nicole on Thursday and the whole school took part in a fire safety assembly on Wednesday. Following a busy and productive half term we hope you all have a restful, safe and enjoyable week off. Assertive Mentoring All pupils have met with their teacher this week to discuss their progress in maths and writing. Personal targets have been discussed and set to work towards next half term. Please talk to your child about their targets and allow them time to work on them at home. All pupils reflected on their learning this half term and evaluated their effort, behaviour and homework during the meetings. Is there anybody out there? Parents of year 5 pupils enjoyed a film premier this week worthy of an Oscar! Working with Nicole, Year 5 have utilized all of their learning about film narrative and sci-fi to plan, film and edit short scifi films which were showcased on Thursday. Pupils considered lighting, sound effects, acting techniques and utilised the green screen technology to create a visual masterpiece. The DVD will be available to purchase after half term. Harvest Parcels On Thursday morning, the school council delivered 22 food parcels packed with a selection of nonperishable food to the residents of Imperial Gardens, Nelson. Thank you for all of your generous donations which made this possible. The residents were extremely surprised and grateful at the generosity of the pupils. School councilor Maham Manzoor (6 Rowan) stated ‘I felt proud that we could take part in the Harvest festival.’ Moazzem Mohammed added, ‘It was delightful to help others in our community.’
