School Update
16th October 2014
Football Kit - Thank you very much to the Mercer family for sponsoring our football kit; our school team will be wearing it shortly. Grant - The PTFA are pleased to announce that we have been successful in receiving a grant from the national lottery Awards for All scheme. The grant has been used to purchase 16 Ipads which are being used for the family ICT sessions currently taking place on Tuesdays after school. The Family ICT sessions will run each term, so if you are on the waiting list, or would like to go on the waiting list, your family will have the opportunity to take part in either the spring or summer term. The PTFA would like to thank Miss Cooper who is running the ICT sessions and passing on her expertise to the pupils and parents who are enjoying learning new skills together in a fun and exciting way. Harvest Assembly - This year’s Harvest Assembly was a great success and as usual everyone was very generous. Your donations for Winter Watch, Bolton, were very much appreciated. Thank you. Parking and Safety – Mr Watson has received complaints from parents as well as local residents (please see letter overleaf) about inconsiderate and dangerous driving and parking. When driving and parking adjacent to school, please do so carefully being considerate of other parents, children and local residents. Please park in the car parks near school, and do not park in front of the residents’ driveways. The staff car park is not to be used by parents/carers except in exceptional circumstances, please adhere to the ‘crawling’ speed limit. When walking in and out of the school grounds please remember to stay on the footpaths. Recently we have seen children running across the car park at the beginning and end of the school day. Please DO NOT use the car park as a short cut into school. We want all the children to be safe at all times. PTFA Halloween Disco - The PTFA are hosting the fabulous Halloween Disco on Thursday 23rd October, from 6.00pm until 8.00pm. Prices are £3.00 for adults and £2.50 for accompanied children, and this includes a scrumptious pasty supper! Don’t forget, you can enter the pumpkin carving competition and win a fantastic prize, bring your pumpkin ready carved to the Halloween Disco. In addition to this there will be a tuck shop, raffle, and spooktastic prizes for the best fancy dress!! If you would like a ticket, please remember to fill in the slip at the bottom of the letter that your child has brought home, and return it to school by Friday 17th October - it’s going to be a scream!! PTFA Clothes Line Appeal - The next Ladybridge Clothes Line Appeal is on Thursday 23rd October. We welcome all donations as every pound in weight earns us £1 in funds for school! As always, donations may include clean, dry, wearable clothing and paired shoes, books, CDs, DVDs and console games (please pack these separately from clothing).
