Parent information

Below is some important information that you may find useful while your child is in Year 1:  Start and End of Day: The Year 1 children will use the changing room doors to come in and exit the school building. Please be patient whilst all the staff are familiarising themselves with who is collecting your child.

Your child’s safety is paramount to us.  PE: Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. We do ask that you leave P.E. kits in school and we will ensure that they are sent home each half term to be washed.  Homework: Homework will be given out on Fridays. It will consist of a piece of Literacy and Mathematics work. We kindly ask that it is returned to school and handed in by your child the following Wednesday.  Spellings: Spellings will be related to the sounds your child has been covering in their phonics group. They will be given out on a Friday and then tested the following Thursday.  Reading Books: We place a great emphasis on reading at St Mary’s and feel it is important that the children read every night. Reading Records should be signed by parents to indicate the page reached each evening and along with the reading book, should be brought into school every day.
