Welcome

Dear Parents and Children, I hope you had a lovely time over the summer and are ready to start the new school year. Welcome to Year 1.

Your child is in Class 1B. My name is Mrs Braisdell and I will be your child’s class teacher this year. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Isherwood.

At St Mary’s, our aim is to ensure that the children experience a smooth transition from Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that children have had in Reception.

Learning through play will continue to be an important part of the school day, and the children will gradually be eased into more formal learning as the year goes on so that they remain motivated, enthused and eager to learn.

Please use the school website and our class page to keep up to date with what we are learning in school as well as general school life. If you have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to come to see me. It is easier to catch me after school but if it is urgent please contact school.

Mrs Isherwood is available in the morning to pass on any messages.
