PPG 2013 - 2014 The numbers in the table below show the number of pupils in each year group currently in receipt of the pupil premium grant. It also shows the number of children in that year group who have claimed Free School Meals at any point within the last six years.

Nationally pupils with special educational needs are much more likely to be eligible for free school meals compared with those without special educational needs. However this is not always the case. At Ladybridge many of the pupils in receipt of the pupil premium grant can and do achieve higher than age related expectations.

How we spent our 2013 - 2014 Allocation Many pupils claiming FSM fall into other groups vulnerable to underachievement and in planning effective intervention that maximise the impact of this new resource Ladybridge maps the range of needs within our pupil population. We know that good teaching can, and does, narrow gaps in attainment.

At Ladybridge we use a range of interventions that narrow the attainment gap. There is however a growing body of evidence that suggests that pupils vulnerable to underachievement need more time with qualified teachers and although support staff make a valuable contribution they cannot be a substitute for targeted interventions by teachers. Pupil Premium funding for the academic year September 2014 to July 2015 Support continues for children as they move from one- year group to the next where necessary. At £1,300 per eligible pupil in 2014/5, the Pupil Premium provides substantial funding to help close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. We intend to make every penny of our Pupil Premium count with tried and tested resources that help every child succeed in English and Maths.

The Education Endowment Foundation Toolkit has identified a number of approaches as the best way to help children make good progress using the Pupil Premium.

As a school we have carried out a lot of research into the interventions that have the most impact upon pupil progress and over the next academic year we aim to implement a number of new interventions such as Read Write Inc. Read Write Inc. is a proven literacy programme rooted in synthetic phonics that has a real impact on the attainment and motivation of all children. Read Write Inc. is used successfully in thousands of schools across the UK, with many schools using their Pupil Premium funding to implement the programme.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) profile have changed for 2013, The revised EYFS profile requires practitioners to assess children against a new set of 17 early learning goals (ELGs).

It is therefore not appropriate to make any comparisons with the assessments completed in previous years.

Good Level of Development (GLD) The achievement of all the ELG (expected level) for: ∗ Communication and Language, ∗ Physical Development, ∗ Personal, Social and Emotional Development, ∗ Literacy and Mathematics.

The points are calculated as follows: Emerging – 1 point Expected – 2 points Exceeding – 3 points Phonics - The statutory Phonic Screening Check for all Year 1 pupils took place for the first time in June 2012. The check takes place in Year 1. Any child who did not meet the standard in Year 1 repeats the check in Year 2. The results for the Phonics Screening Check at the end of Key Stage 1 include all children who achieved the standard in Year 1 and those who repeated the test in Year 2 In 2013 the following tests and assessments took place, Reading Test, Reading

Teacher Assessment (TA), Writing TA, Maths Test, Maths TA and the new grammar, punctuation and spelling (GAPS) Test. Unlike previous years an overall English Level will not be calculated by the DfE. Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - A new statutory test of English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GAPS) was introduced for children at the end of Key Stage 2 from May 2013. The test assesses levels 3-5 of the current statutory Key Stage 2 English National Curriculum programme of study for English. A separate level 6 test is available for schools that wish to enter children who are expected to be working above level 5 in May 2013 A Good Level 4 - A new indicator showing how many 11- year- olds achieve a “good�

Level 4 will be published at national, local authority and school level in performance tables this year. These are those children who scored in the top two- thirds of the Level 4 mark range (level 4B+) Level 6 Tests - A School may choose to administer Level 6 tests for Reading, GAPS and Maths. These tests are taken in addition to the KS2 Level 3-5 tests. If a child is entered and doesn't achieve the level 6, they are awarded the level they obtained in the level 3-5 tests.

Level of Progress measure - The methodology to calculate the levels of progress from Key Stage 1 to 2 was amended in 2012 by the DFE. A child is expected to have 2 levels of progress from KS1 to KS2. If a child makes 3 levels of progress they are deemed as exceeding the expected levels of progress.

Floor Standards - The floor standard target for 2012/13 is 60% of pupils achieving a Level 4+ in Reading, Writing and Maths. Schools will be considered to be above the floor standard if they have above the average percentage of pupils making expected progress in any of English reading, English writing (based on teacher assessment at Key Stage 2), or maths
