Dear Parents,
Reminder - Dinner Money
We have had a very good start to our new school year with all the children settling well into their classes. I visited every class several times this week and in all rooms there was a lovely calm, atmosphere with children working hard but happily. The teachers have all been working hard over the Summer planning lots of interesting and exciting lessons and activities. Hopefully you will have been given a preview of these in your class meetings with the teachers this week and next. Behaviour on the playground and around school has been excellent. Our results last year again place Bishop Martin amongst the top performing schools in the area and perhaps as a result we are receiving a lot of requests for places and have been happy to welcome quite a few new starters to school. All the staff have been so proud of how kind and friendly our children have been in helping them settle in. As ever I am available to meet with any parents who wish to see me. Just speak to the office to arrange an appointment. Thank you for all your support. WELCOME BACK!!! Mrs Gray - Headteacher Collecting Children at Hometime Please can you ensure that the office have an up to date list of adults who can collect your child at home time, especially in the early years and infants. It is also vitally important that all children are collected on time at the end of the school day. Can you let us know as soon as possible if you will be late collecting your child for any reason. Lancashire policy is that Headteahcers must phone police and Childrens Social Care if children have not been collected within a certain time.
School meals are £2.10 per day – £10.50 per week. This is payable at the office on Monday mornings.

Free School Meals If you are not already in receipt of free school meals and need to apply, please contact LCC on 01772 531 809. Free School Meals must be claimed for as each child begins Reception Class. They are NOT automatically awarded free school meals even if you have older children in school already in receipt of free school meals. Please phone the number above or call into the school office to fill out a form and we will email it to Lancashire County Council for you.

APPLYING FOR SCHOOL PLACES FOR SEPTEMBER 2014 For Lancashire resident families who will require a primary or secondary school place in September 2014 the means of application is via Lancashire's on-line system. If you would like to do this using school’s facilities please cnatact the school office. The system went live on 2nd September 2013. It is quick and easy to use and offers an e-mail receipt of all submitted applications. If you want your child to come to Bishop Martin please tick the church school box on the application form, as we expect strong competition for places next year, this should ensure you are given first preference. Please ensure that you hit the "submit" button when you are ready to send in your completed on-line application. You must apply even if you already have children at your preferred school. The closing dates for applications for September 2014 are at 11-59 pm on:Secondary school applications – 31st October 2013 Primary school applications – 15th January 2014
