March 2014

Dear Parents/Carers and Friends Welcome to the latest newsletter.

School Closes Friday 4th April School Opens Tuesday 22nd April Bank Holiday Monday 5th May

March already—where is the time going!? We have had a very busy term in school with another opportunity for everyone to get dressed up; this time for National Book Day. The children had the opportunity to show off their costumes in our special assembly. Discussions around the SEN Review are continuing but there is nothing further to report at this stage. The school entrance is now looking very much like spring thanks to the hard work of the children in Yellow class and the students in FE. With our planned “Woodlands in Bloom”, school will become even more colourful over the coming months. At the end of this term we will be having an Easter Coffee Morning to raise funds to support our Woodlands in Bloom, and I look forward to seeing you there.

World Book Day Pupils and staff celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 6th March by dressing up as characters from books. Everybody had fun showing off their amazing costumes during a special afternoon assembly.

Woodlands in Bloom This year the whole school will be taking part in ‘Woodlands in Bloom’. This is an opportunity for each child to learn how plants grow and make the school a brighter environment for everyone to enjoy. At the end of the Summer term, judges will be invited into school to look at the exhibits and everyone who takes part will receive a certificate and the ‘Best in Bloom’ plants will receive rosettes. All money raised at the Easter Coffee Morning will be used to buy seeds, plants, bulbs etc. and anything that is saleable will be sold at the Summer coffee morning and generated towards next year’s ‘Woodlands in Bloom’.

New Parent Governor Following the recent Parent Governor Election, we are pleased to announce that Desiree Langan has been elected. Our thanks go to all those who took the time to send in votes.

FE Spring flowers Students in the FE College have been busy planting bulbs and working hard over the winter months to give us a display of Spring flowers. Unfortunately some of the plants which have been placed outside the school entrance have had their flower heads picked off. We would kindly ask everyone to keep an eye on the children when entering or leaving school. Thank you.
