World book day fun To celebrate World Book day this year we will be having a dress-up day on Thursday 7th March. Children can come to school dressed as any book character. This does not need to require any cost as many character costumes are simple to make. During this special day, the children will take part in book related activities to promote their love of reading.
Cross Country Well done to the 16 (yes, 16!) pupils who represented Bishop Martin at the Skelmersdale Schools’ Cross Country event on Tuesday. They conducted themselves brilliantly and were a credit to the school! Special mention to the Girls’ Y5/6 team who finished 3rd overall and to Ashley (Y6) who came 2 nd in his race. Below is a photo of some of the team modelling our new all-weather kit! Well done everyone!
During and After School Clubs W/C 04/03/2013
Can we reassure all parents that all school dinners are prepared on site by our staff. We have received confirmation from the Local Authority that the ingredients we use are completely free of any trace of horsemeat. ‘Babes in the Wood’ Panto Well done to all the children, staff, governors and relatives of our Church and school who put an amazing performance of ‘Babes in the Wood’ last week. We are now looking forward to next years.

Please note it is the policy of West Lancs Swimming Service that adults (including relatives) are not allowed to watch the lessons at Nye Bevan Pool for safeguarding reasons. This also applies to the swimming Gala in a couple of weeks’ time. Thank you for your co-operation.
Respect our School At Bishop Martin school we pride ourselves on the care we provide for our children. However, as with any school there are always times when problems can arise. If parents bring these to our attention we will ALWAYS try to resolve them appropriately and sensitively and if we have got something wrong endeavour, not only to make things right for the particular incident but change our practice so that there is no repeat. In doing this we try at all times to apply our RESPECT code of conduct, in particular the T Treat other people the way you wish to be treated. Unfortunately there have been several occasions recently when parents have not returned this courtesy and have shouted at, sworn and been generally abusive to staff. This is not acceptable and something that we are no longer prepared to tolerate. Whilst assuring you again that we will at all times listen to and try to resolve any difficulties that parents present to us respectfully we will in future refuse to speak with anyone who is abusive.
