Basketball tournament – 5th February 2013 'The basketball team’, Ashley, Adam, Jenna, Tom, Andrew and Amilcar all played fantastically at Our Lady Queen of Peace on Tuesday 5th February. They came first in the second league, and won 4 out of 6 games overall. It wasn't possible to choose a player of the match as all children played brilliantly and were full of enthusiasm throughout. Teachers from other schools commented on the quality of the children's skills. Miss McCormick and Miss Berry were really pleased with the way the children represented the school and their attitude towards the game. Well done everyone!

Well done to all the pupils at Bishop Martin who worked so hard this week on the Lancashire Schools' Contest on 'Sumdog'. In total, 129 pupils used the site which is well over half the school! We finished a fantastic 2nd place out of the whole of Lancashire which is an incredible achievement given it was our first attempt. A huge thank you to parents who supported their children in accessing the site from home, I have had many positive comments about how well it is supporting Maths learning both in and out of school! We were the daily winners on two of the days (1st February and 7th February), and an amazing 18 out of the top 50 scorers in Lancashire came from our school! Special mention to Patrick and Lotte from Year 6 who both finished inside the top 10 scoring pupils across the county. Well done! The prize for any children who entered the contest is an exclusive version of the popular 'Junk Pile' game automatically loaded into their account. The next Lancashire contest is in March, but in the meantime keep logging on and practising your Maths skills! Book Fair
