HOL/ABA 28th January 2014
Dear Parent/Carer, 2014 is the beginning of the centenary commemorations for World War One and we would like to invite you to participate in a school memorial. Over the next four years we plan to create a digital banner remembering the local soldiers and members of our Parish communities who fought in the Great War. We are also interested in any family members from other areas. The aim is to have this banner hung in school as a permanent reminder of their sacrifice. As 2019 is the 80th anniversary of WWII, we would also like to see any memorabilia to do with WWII that you may have as well. To aid this project we would like to see any photos, newspaper articles, letters, medals or other memorabilia that you may have in your family archives. These can be brought into school at any time and given to Mrs Holland who will have them scanned to use in the digital banner. We will add to this with further research and potentially with visits to the graves of soldiers from our local community when we visit the battlefields in 2015 and 2017. Many thanks in advance for your participation and contributions. We look forward to being able to remember our local community in a personal way. Yours sincerely,
S. Holland (Mrs) Head of History
