BRO/ABA 20th January 2014 Dear Parents/Carers, I am writing to let you know that Year 9 Parents' Evening is on Wednesday 12th February 2014 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. This is a very good opportunity for your son/daughter and yourselves to discuss the progress he/she has made in their individual subjects so far this year. It will also give you the chance to find out more about the possible option subjects that your son/daughter may want to choose for next year and whether those choices are appropriate. An appointment sheet is enclosed with this letter; please give this to your son/daughter for them to arrange appointments before Parents' Evening. Teachers will insert times on the sheet and your son/daughter will return the sheet to you so that you can refer to it on the night. All teachers will try to ensure that your appointments are not spread over too long a period. In order to give every parent the same access to teachers, each meeting must be limited to five minutes. If a longer period is required, this could be arranged for a future date with the teacher concerned. All pupils are encouraged to come to Parents' Evening and I hope that your son/daughter will attend with you particularly since this is a very significant time in their education. We ask that pupils attend in full school uniform. Available for any urgent queries will be, myself, Deputy Head of Year and Form Tutors, but since we will have appointments with our subject students you may prefer to make an appointment to see either your son/daughter’s Form Tutor, Deputy Head of Year or me following Parents' Evening if there is something you would like to discuss in more detail. All staff will be in their allocated room from 4.30 pm onwards. A small number of teachers may feel it is necessary to make appointments earlier than this in order to fit all their classes in. In this case, those teachers will be in their own classrooms prior to 4.30pm but may relocate at 4.30pm. Please see the appointment sheet for the room allocations. Please could I ask that when you attend Parents’ Evening you sign in and out for security reasons. Attendance sheets will be situated in the entrance to the Sports Hall. Finally, please would you acknowledge receipt of this letter and return the slip to your child’s Form Tutor as soon as possible before 31st January 2014.
