Literacy Stories from Other Cultures Children will look at a range of stories from other countries in particular Africa. They will look at the effects of Apartheid and write about this. Classic/Narrative Poems Children will study The Highwayman, istening to music linked to the poem and perform and evaluate a choral performance of a poem. Persuasive Writing Children will debate a topic looking at the pros and cons using drama. They will then use their ideas to write a letter to persuade.

MOUNTAINS Children will study mountain ranges and identify and name those in Great Britain, Europe and around the world. They will identify and name the highest peaks in each range and look at the environments of different ranges. They will study the effects of tourism on different mountain ranges as well as identifying the physical and human features on a map.

SEAL - GOING FOR GOALS Children will be taught to recognise their worth as individuals, by identifying positive things about themselves, their achievements, seeing their mistakes, making amends and setting personal goals. They will learn to face new challenges positively by collecting information, looking for help, making responsible choices and taking action. They will learn that their actions affect themselves and others, to care about other people’s feelingsand to try to see things from their points of view.

CHANGING STATE Through this unit children consolidate their ideas about changes of state which can be reversed. They use their understanding to explain a range of familiar phenomena. EARTH, SUN AND MOON In this unit children learn about the shapes and relative sizes of the Earth, Sun and Moon. Using models they learn how the three bodies move relative to each other and how these movements relate to night and day. Work in this unit offers opportunities for children to relate scientific knowledge and understanding to familiar phenomena eg day length, year length and to consider scientific evidence about the Earth, Sun and Moon.
RE
Children continue to develop a deeper understanding of the Catholic Faith through discussion of the liturgy, Sacraments, Moral life and Prayer. They will study Judaism and look at the similarities and differences between this and the Catholic religion.
