Liebe Leserinnen und Leser,
The release of the year's film blockbusters are unmissable dates for me and the other film buffs in the schott aktuell-team toward the end of each year. Top of the list in 2015 are the new James Bond and Star Wars films. For many years now, we've held a particular passion for film music and the composers that are so crucial for the success of a film.
Pflichttermine für mich und die anderen Cineasten im schott aktuell-Team: Zum Ende eines jeden Jahres starten die großen Blockbuster im Kino, 2015 allen voran James Bond und Star Wars. Unsere besondere Leidenschaft gilt seit vielen Jahren der Filmmusik – und damit jenen Komponisten, die ganz entscheidend zum Erfolg eines Films beitragen.
We recently undertook a project to greatly expand our film music repertoire with works that are also eminently suitable for the concert hall. In the central section of this issue, we present film classics from the Italian, American and Japanese world of cinema. Immortal melodies by composers such as Ennio Morricone (Once Upon a Time in the West) and Luis Enríquez Bacalov (The Postman) can now be found alongside the colourful orchestration of Erich Wolfgang Korngold (The Prince and the Pauper) and Joe Hisaishi’s playful sound (Spirited Away). Discover a wealth of new works in our newly issued catalogue 'Film Music in Concert' which can be ordered by e-mail at infoservice@schott-music.de. The films featured in the catalogue have won a collective 47 Oscars in all categories!
In letzter Zeit haben wir unser Repertoire an Filmmusik, die sich hervorragend für den Konzertsaal eignet, noch einmal stark ausgebaut. Im Mittelteil unseres Magazins stellen wir Ihnen Filmmusikklassiker aus der italienischen, amerikanischen und japanischen Kinoszene vor. Die unsterblichen Melodien von Komponisten wie Ennio Morricone (Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod) und Luis Enríquez Bacalov (Der Postmann) werden Ihr Publikum ebenso begeistern wie der farbenreiche Orchestersatz Erich Wolfgang Korngolds (Der Prinz und der Bettelknabe) und Joe Hisaishis verspielter Breitbandsound (Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland). On the subject of additions to the repertoire, we offer a warm welcome to Akiko Yamane who was recently signed to Schott Japan. Yamane is one of Japan's foremost young composers and her works are performed internationally. We eagerly anticipate the première of her new work Illuminated Baby and are looking forward to working together.
Apropos Repertoireerweiterung: Wir begrüßen mit Akiko Yamane sehr herzlich die erste Komponistin in der Geschichte von Schott Japan! Wir drücken ihr fest die Daumen für die Uraufführung von Illuminated Baby und freuen uns auf die Zusammenarbeit.
In our Richard Wagner Critical Edition, we have just issued the third volume of Die Feen and now have the finishing line in sight: With the publication of Das Liebesverbot at the beginning of December, all of Wagner’s thirteen completed operas will be available from Schott in all existing versions, published in 43 volumes.
Im Rahmen der Richard Wagner-Gesamtausgabe haben wir soeben den dritten Band zur Oper Die Feen veröffentlicht. Damit ist der Zieleinlauf in Sicht: Anfang Dezember sind mit dem Erscheinen von Das Liebesverbot alle dreizehn vollendeten Wagner-Opern in sämtlichen Fassungen in 43 Partitur-Bänden bei Schott erhältlich.
