013 and beyond represent something of a milestone for the Netherlands Port of Den Helder. In a significant changing of the guard for the port, it has recently changed from public ownership to become a private entity. As a result of this shift the way is now clear for a host of new opportunities supported by the emergence of new business opportunities and an empowered spirit of co-operation. Ownership of the port was transferred to the municipal port authority on 1st January this year and its current CEO, Piet-Hein Kolff was appointed in July. Since then the port authority has showed no sigh of slowing down as it moves to revitalise the port as a centre of industry.
